“The Cleansing of the Temple”

Jesus sweeps the Temple clean by his new priorities. He tells the moneychangers and greedy ones to make sure the sacred place remains holy. Jesus invites his disciples and our lives as well, to recognize that he will become the new Temple. His passion, death and resurrection will be honored forever. This charcoal drawing depicts the fact that Jesus is the new Temple. His tears become the cleansing agent, the new Temple is cleansed by Jesus’ passion for his people. His tears of concern for us cleanse his body and our lives. If he is the new Temple, then his tears become the, “Cleansing of the Temple.”
