“Christmas Upon the Earth” Art by: Ronald Raab, CSC

December 24/25, 2024

Christmas Eve/Day

For Francis, our Pope, and ___, our Bishop. May the harmony of love and peace be made known among all who lead us in faith. May justice be the gift within the Church and upon the earth.

We pray to the Lord.

For the sacred journey of all who seek Christ. May we pray without ceasing for our own surrender to love in these days of Christmas. May hope be no longer a stranger in our hearts and actions.

We pray to the Lord.

For our cities and our countryside. May we bask in the tender light of faith and be comforted in our efforts to live in harmony. May peace flow from our hearts and be made known in every household and street corner.

We pray to the Lord.

For people who have faced fires, storms and natural disasters. May we work without ceasing to create housing, food, and education for all who face loss and insecurity.

We pray to the Lord.

For our children and their children on Christmas. May we gaze into the eyes of our next generation with the assurance of God’s care. May hope be born among people we love.

We pray to the Lord.

For all who live in shelters or who survive on streetcorners. May we provide a place of rest and security for people facing desperate times. May we care for everyone under heaven.

We pray to the Lord.

For people who carry past burdens and regrets. May we not be caught in webs of hopelessness from past shame. May our hearts find room this Christmas for miracles, delights and wonders.

We pray to the Lord.

For our elderly who are alone on Christmas. May we reach those who have provided love in our world and for our families. May hope not be lost as we enter the last years of our lives.

We pray to the Lord.

For all people who are ill. May every disease, illness and hardship be eased on Christmas. May we befriend the weary and care for sick.

We pray to the Lord.

For our beloved dead. May all who have died since last Christmas find eternal rest in the joy of heaven. May we sing of God’s eternal embrace on this feast of Christmas.

We pray to the Lord.
