  1. Oh, Father Ron, thank you so much for your words. How I have missed you!
I look forward to your weekly inspirations – more than you know.
I especially appreciate your remembering the prisoners, and the refugees.
I welcome you to follow my work in my Laudato si’ Facebook (private group). If interested, look for our banner, the planet Earth on a leaf. All are welcome – I have a co-admin in Italy, and we have members from all over the world, and from many faiths.

    A little more about me:
I have taken over a Thursday morning creation care group discussion, originally founded by a rabbi at the Interfaith Center for Sustainable Development, in Israel, and have become friends with the co-author of the Eco Bible. In fact, he was at Pope Leo’s Raising Hope conference (Yonatan Neril) and is a big fan of the encyclical. At Sacred Heart, Father Jarrod has asked me to speak about the Laudato Si’ to the entire parish in February. He also asked me to be a liaison to the Holy Cross rep for the Laudato Si’ (although no one has contacted me, yet.) I continue to contribute to the Creation Care corner in the weekly bulletin, and updated the Laudato Si’ webpage at the website. The Vatican even sent us 1,000 copies of the “Our Common Home” booklet – that was an exciting week for the parish office! And my contact there asked me to film a short video about the booklet, which I did in English, Italian, and in Spanish, with a message for Pope Francis. I have no idea of he actually listened to it, but I was so honored to be asked to do that! Father Jarrod also helped me set up a series of private lessons in Italian for those going on his Jubilee pilgrimage this fall (the idea came from a fellow parishioner). It has been so much fun doing this – this week we’ll be studying a new version of the Canticle of Creation, sung by Andrea Bocelli and his son, Matteo, before the Pope in this Season of Creation.

I often remember your interpretation of my having lost my voice to laryngitis for about 6 months the year after I retired from teaching. I had to go to speech lessons with a physical therapist to learn how to talk again. My goal for my sessions was to be able to sing the Celtic Alleluia. I reached that goal, began teaching foreign languages privately again, and then, thanks to your encouragement, teaching the Laudato Si’.

I keep the beautiful Madonna and Son you painted up all year, the one you gifted to me at Christmas with the words: Hold on to your motherhood.
It is such a precious blessing for me. I thank you for this treasure, and for the many ways you made me feel valued and included in your work at Sacred Heart.

Sending you much love and many hugs! You have been and continue to be in my prayers.
Thank you for being such an inspiration for me in my life.

    Warmly,
    Liz
