Happy first Sunday of Lent! I listened to Fr. Shimmell’s talk and was profoundly moved by his insights provided by his many years of ministry. He really made me stop and think of the trap I often fall into, i.e. allowing sin and shortcomings to define me in my own mind, and the struggle to forgive myself. As he pointed out, it is only when we focus on how we are God’s beloved, and his love is the very foundation of our humanity, that we can break through and define ourselves in His light. I really enjoyed his presentation, he definitely helped me see new aspects of my life. Thank you for this Lenten retreat series!
