The Second Sunday of Lent, March 1, 2026, The Prayers of the Faithful

The Transfiguration, Lent 2026, By: Ronald Raab, CSC

March 1, 2026

Second Sunday of Lent

For Leo, our Pope, and ___, our Bishop.  May all leaders give glory to God in their service among us. May their journey of faith begin with simple surrender to love.

We pray to the Lord.

For peace among us. May every nation under heaven live in the gentleness of God and for the common good of its citizens. May wars end and harmony become our daily bread.

We pray to the Lord.

For our catechumens waiting for baptism. May we welcome our people searching for the beauty of faith. May hope be known and shared in our worshipping assemblies and in our work among God’s poor.

We pray to the Lord.

For people struggling with mobility. May we lean on Jesus Christ to guide our lives, our souls, and even our bodies up the mountain of faith. May we capture Christ’s light shining within that guides us and gives us courage.

We pray to the Lord.

For people who have given up on the Church. May the Lenten season give us all courage to live our faith in community and among God’s poor. May we surrender to God’s love and be patient to find joy and freedom.

We pray to the Lord.

For people aching for forgiveness. May we all find hope on the mountain of the Transfiguration to continue our faith journey. May our fragile relationships find mercy and healing in this season of Lent.

We pray to the Lord.

For people who have grown used to being afraid. May all who live with depression or anxiety discover a new freedom to live in faith and hope. May the Lent journey remind us that we are children of God.

We pray to the Lord.

For people in need of physical healing. May the ill among us find courage and support in their pain. May God provide remedy and courage for all in constant anguish.

We pray to the Lord.

For our beloved dead. May all who have journeyed to the joy of heaven know forever the glory of God’s eternal face.

We pray to the Lord.
