The Second Sunday of Lent, March 5, 2023, Cycle A, Prayers of the Faithful

Sunday March 5, 2023

Second Sunday of Lent

Let us pray for our leaders of faith who model for us prayer and service. May we surrender to God’s light so to find the way to our heavenly home.

We pray to the Lord.

Let us pray for the transfiguration of all that is dark within us. May our sins find the light of mercy. May our regrets and inner violence be transformed into radiant gratefulness.

We pray to the Lord.

Let us pray to climb the mountain of faith this Lent. May our hearts find God’s forgiveness. May we seek the face of our Savior. May we courageously serve all that is good and right.

We pray to the Lord.

Let us pray for people suffering mental anguish and emotional turmoil. May each of us surrender to the light of love so to serve those who most need us.

We pray to the Lord.

Let us pray for the end of war in Ukraine. May the darkness of loss, chaos, and brutality be transformed into freedom and security for all families.

We pray to the Lord.

Let us pray fervently for those ridiculed in the LBGTQ+ community. May we shed a new light on justice and acceptance among our family and community members.

We pray to the Lord.

Let us pray for the healing of our earth. May our polluted streams, lakes, and rivers flow again with clean water. May our earth be transfigured for the benefit of all creation.

We pray to the Lord.

Let us pray for people surviving in nursing homes and care facilities. May God heal the minds and bodies of those who live in their beds.

We pray to the Lord.

Let us pray for people whose hearts are shredded with grief and loss. May God mend the lives of people who remain sleepless and filled with guilt. May our dead find the glory of heaven.

We pray to the Lord.
