Twenty-first Sunday in Ordinary Time         August 24, 2014

 

Let us pray to build the Church on the rock of justice and peace:

God, show us your love as we make our commitments to follow you.

Show how to build up the mission of the Church.

We pray to the Lord.

 

Let us pray to speak about Christ Jesus in our fragile world:

God, give us purpose in our faith and joy in our witness.

Help us to love beyond our selfishness and to hope beyond our fear.

We pray to the Lord.

 

Let us pray to be a rock of hope for all lost in failure and doubt:

God, help us witness to your presence by our everlasting dedication.

Bring us to people whom most need our joy and service.

We pray to the Lord.

 

Let us pray for hope to flow from the rock of the Church:

God, help us be present to people in anger, depression and illness.

Give us courage to sing of your fidelity among your forgotten.

We pray to the Lord.

 

Let us pray for an everlasting voice to proclaim our faith and purpose:

God, help us not tire of speaking out about our relationship with you.

Give us joy to express our faith and hope to keep going.

We pray to the Lord.

 

Let us pray for our loved ones who have died in faith:

God, help us live on the shoulders of our loved ones who believed.

Give them now their deserved place in heaven.

Help us grieve their voices of faith. We pray to the Lord.
