Prayers of the Faithful

Solemnity of the Ascension of the Lord

For Leo, our Pope, and ___, our Bishop. May the gift of the Holy Spirit empower our leaders to pray and serve with love for all people under heaven.

We pray to the Lord.

For our newly baptized. May we support and encourage our sisters and brothers renewed in the sacramental waters of Baptism, in the oils of Confirmation, and in the Real Presence of Communion.

We pray to the Lord.

For nations amid war and violence. May we work for peace in every land under the sun. May we learn to serve the needs of all who ache for peace.

We pray to the Lord.

For our recent graduates. May our young people continue to express their voice and creativity to heal the world. May the Holy Spirit guide them into genuine hope and generosity.

We pray to the Lord.  

For people who are ill and lonely. May people who live in pain find comfort and consolation in the healing gift of Christ Jesus.

We pray to the Lord.

For people who live with burdens of job loss, food insecurity, lack of healthcare and loss of insurance. May we all be protected in God’s love and providence on earth.

We pray to the Lord. 

For people who cast their eyes only to the sky. May the Holy Spirit inspire our work on earth for the spiritual benefit of all people. May our work as Christians help change the earth upon which we live.

We pray to the Lord.

For our children. May our young who have experienced sex trafficking, abuse of any kind, or the reality of living on the streets, find resources for education, food, housing, and healthcare.

We pray to the Lord.

For our loved ones who have died. May those we have known on earth find home with the saints of heaven.
