Pentecost Sunday, May 24, 2026, The Prayers of the Faithful

May 24, 2026

Pentecost Sunday

For people bound by fear in the Church. May Leo, our Pope and ___, our Bishop, instill courage and boldness in living the Gospel. May we find home in the silence and song of Pentecost.

We pray to the Lord.

For people ravaged by war and violence. May every nation on earth discover the dignity of human life. May we lay down destructive weapons and divisive words that harm humankind.

We pray to the Lord.

For the ability to ask for what we most need. May Pentecost inspire our hearts and offer us courage to speak prayers that will set us free. May we voice truth and may justice be known in every land.

We pray to the Lord.

For tender listening among family and friends. May the Holy Spirit offer us forgiveness and harmony among every discord.  May we listen with compassion for the wellbeing of people we love.

We pray to the Lord.

For people who question the meaning of their lives. May the Holy Spirit awaken every life to its worth. May doubt be cleansed in God’s mercy and forgiveness.

We pray to the Lord.

For children overwhelmed by their failures and questions. May we provide safety for our children to ask their difficult questions. May family life be a place of refuge for all struggling to grow up.

We pray to the Lord.

For artists, writers, painters and architects. May we use every gift under heaven to build our worship spaces and to inspire our praying assemblies. May the Holy Spirit offer the Church the gift of creativity in our generation.

We pray to the Lord.

For people burdened by illness and disease. May our loved ones find comfort in the healing gift of the Holy Spirit. May we abide in hope even in our pain.

We pray to the Lord.

For our loved ones who have died. May we continue to love even when we face loss. May hope be born in the gift of the Holy Spirit for all eternity.

We pray to the Lord.
